WATER FOR ALL

Water is essential for life, yet over a billion people – a sixth of the world’s population – lack access to clean water and effective sanitation. Every year millions die from water related diseases. It is not just the absence of clean drinking water, there are also problems with sanitation and hygiene. Polluted water and inadequate sanitation are principal causes of illness. In many developing countries women and children in rural areas spend much of their time collecting water and carrying it back to their homes, often in dangerous circumstances.

ACWW aims to alleviate rural poverty by focusing on the provision of fresh water, irrigation, sanitation, health and the environment. ACWW supports projects that benefit the whole community. Community involvement ensures that projects are relevant to local needs.
