SOCIAL ISSUES

The Country Women's Association of Victoria Social Issues Committee is a small and enthusiastic committee of members from across the State.  Its role is to research issues which effect women and children in our community, to lobby State and Federal Governments to change things for the betterment of women and children, and to keep members informed through the Victorian Country Woman magazine.

The Committee has conducted a survey of issues of concern to Branches across the State.  This provided valuable information and showed a variety of concerns with health a main issue; also transport, environment and water.

Submissions are prepared and submitted to relevant bodies, government and nongovernment, on many and varied issues.

The Association has developed good standing with these bodies, which has been attributed to our ability to present submissions which are unbiased and deal fairly with all aspects of the subject matter.

State Council Members represent the Association on Government, Semi Government and other organisations.

The Committee assists Members with inquiries.

The Individual/Branch/Group carries out some investigation and submits reliable and factual background information.
