State Choir

History

In 1962 the Conference of Associated Country Women of the World was held in Melbourne.  As part of the entertainment for the world visitors a concert of Australian music and drama, entitled ‘Australia presents’, was to be held in the Melbourne Town Hall.  Members from each of the Australian States formed a fully Australian choir.  On the day, 135 members were arranged on the Melbourne Town Hall stage dressed in long pastel shaded evening gowns and wearing long white gloves.

Our Victorian State Choir was formed from auditions held to train the Victorian section for the abovementioned concert.
